Faculty Feature: Dr. Sarah Donaldson

Faculty Feature is a series in the Blue Tribune that recognizes the excellent professors and staff of ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø through a series of questions.
This week we're highlighting Dr. Sarah Donaldson, Associate Professor of Mathematics.
What brought you to ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø? How long have you been teaching?
I've been teaching at ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø full time since 2011.
What is your history with ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø?
My dad taught Chemistry at ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø from 1967-2002, and I am happy to be the first ever second-generation ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø professor! My mom is a ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø alumna, and I myself graduated from ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø in 1998. I have three other relatives (two uncles and an aunt) who are retired ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø faculty, and my grandfather taught at ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø Seminary.
What do you love about teaching at ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø?
I am fully on board with ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø's philosophy of Christian higher education, and am excited to be part of furthering the mission of the college. But what I really love about teaching is of course the students!
What is your history with the PCA or Reformed Tradition?
I grew up in the PCA and am a member of Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. I've been attending LMPC since I was 10 years old.
What's your favorite ±¬ÁϳԹÏÍø tradition?
All the Scottish connections, especially anything with a thistle on it.
What is a current research project or area of interest you're excited about?
Teaching mathematics through problem solving.
